Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a sticky situation, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, chewing gum eventually changes into a dark smudge on concrete. But before then, pedestrians and clients walking into a business will step on it and track it in all over the carpets and entryway mats. Then it’s embedded deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to track it somewhere else.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in St Petersburg FL. Find information on our methods below:
The best methods for removing gum from concrete usually depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping the gum off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the gum to freeze into a more forgiving substance compared to a warm and sticky mess. Once the gum is frozen, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper under the gum residue. Then we slide the scraper slowly under the gum and the whole piece should then peel right off the concrete.
The above process is only possible with brand new gum.
When we remove chewing gum that has turned black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal service, we don’t use high pressure because that might harm the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses any more pressure than needed to clean concrete. These surfaces can be destroyed a lot easier than people think, especially if they’re only 1-2 years old. Concrete can require up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal professional.
To completely remove chewing gum from parking lots and other commercial surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing tools and special soaps and detergents that enable us to effectively clean the surface without causing any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure equipment, we are able to safely remove chewing gum and surface dirt while protecting the surface. Our method will also eliminate bacteria and viruses that are found in gum.
